Early Game Priorities
The first two weeks in Top Heroes are the fastest growth period you’ll ever have. Getting your priorities right here sets up a strong mid-game foundation. Here’s a day-by-day and week-by-week breakdown of what to focus on.
Day 1 Checklist
Section titled “Day 1 Checklist”Hit all of these on day one:
- Choose your faction (Horde, League, or Nature) — don’t overthink it, any is viable
- Complete the tutorial and claim all starter rewards
- Spend your starting recruit tokens on your faction’s hero banner
- Queue up your first castle upgrade — never let construction sit idle
- Start your first research — never let research sit idle
- Join a guild, or at minimum apply to one
- Complete all daily quests
- Redeem any active gift codes (check the gift codes page)
- Set up auto-battle for the campaign stages you’ve unlocked
Day 2–7 Priorities
Section titled “Day 2–7 Priorities”Castle: Get to Level 25+ This Week
Section titled “Castle: Get to Level 25+ This Week”Your castle level is the master gating mechanism. Everything unlocks relative to it. Push it as fast as resources allow.
Key building dependencies to know:
- Castle levels alternate requiring Research Cottage / Hospital or Guild / Training Ground upgrades
- Check the requirements for your next castle level before upgrading anything randomly — you don’t want to waste time on a building that doesn’t unlock the next tier
- Resource costs are manageable through level 25; budget accordingly
Heroes: Focus Your Core Three
Section titled “Heroes: Focus Your Core Three”Pick your faction’s three core legendaries and invest in them almost exclusively:
- Horde: Wilderness Hunter, Swordsmith, Shaman
- League: Astrologer, Secret Agent, Bard
- Nature: Focus your two starting mythic heroes when they arrive; use legendaries to fill until then
Level up their skills and ascend them — but remember that mythic heroes start replacing them around week 3–6. Don’t over-invest in legendaries you’ll retire soon.
Research: Never Stop
Section titled “Research: Never Stop”Open the research tree and always have something queuing. Research runs in the background — you lose nothing by optimizing it. Prioritize:
- Economy research (speeds up resource production)
- Military research (unlocks troop types and upgrades)
- Hero research (increases hero level caps)
Troops: Train Constantly
Section titled “Troops: Train Constantly”When you’re not using resources for buildings or research, train troops. Troops are your military power in Kingdom vs Kingdom and guild events. Higher troop counts also improve your economy in some gathering mechanics.
Start with the highest-tier troops your barracks can produce — don’t train low-tier troops unless you have no other option.
Week 2 Priorities
Section titled “Week 2 Priorities”Join an Active Guild (if you haven’t)
Section titled “Join an Active Guild (if you haven’t)”By week two, you should be in an active guild — not just applied to one. Guild technology research and cooperative events provide real permanent buffs. A medium-tier active guild with real players is dramatically better than a high-ranking guild with nobody online.
Castle: Push Toward Level 30
Section titled “Castle: Push Toward Level 30”The resource cost jump at level 29 (second resource column) is a real barrier. Start stockpiling resources earlier than you think you need to.
By end of week two, aim for castle level 28–30.
Heroes: First Mythics Incoming (Horde Players)
Section titled “Heroes: First Mythics Incoming (Horde Players)”If you chose Horde, your first mythic hero (Desert Prince) arrives around game day 21. That’s the end of week three, but you should be planning for it in week two:
- Save mythic shards and summon resources
- Decide which legendary Desert Prince will replace in your lineup
- Don’t pour more into the legendary you’re about to bench
League players: your first mythic (Paragon) arrives around day 35. Nature players: mythics don’t arrive until Season 1 at day 53 — lean into your legendary team for longer.
Diamonds: Save, Don’t Spend
Section titled “Diamonds: Save, Don’t Spend”By week two you may have accumulated a few hundred diamonds from quests. Don’t spend them. The temptation to do summons is real, but targeted banner events and shop purchases give dramatically better value. Save for week 3–4 events.
Week 3–4: Mythic Transition
Section titled “Week 3–4: Mythic Transition”This is where faction choice starts showing its character:
Horde Week 3–4
Section titled “Horde Week 3–4”- Desert Prince (day 21) and Storm Maiden (day 27) arrive — pull them if you can
- Witch arrives at day 41
- Your legendary trio starts getting benched one by one — this is expected
- Focus mythic shard acquisition over raw legendary leveling
League Week 3–4
Section titled “League Week 3–4”- Paragon arrives at day 35, Princess Rose and Bishop at day 46
- Continue investing in legendaries through week 4 — you have longer with them
- Leader is your most impactful hero — prioritize if you have them
Nature Week 3–4
Section titled “Nature Week 3–4”- No mythics yet (they come at day 53)
- Invest in your legendary team with confidence — you’ll use them longer than other factions
- Prioritize Forest awakening, then Treant
Resource Management Basics
Section titled “Resource Management Basics”Gold: The most abundant resource early; becomes the biggest bottleneck later. Don’t burn it on inefficient upgrades.
Gems/Diamonds: Treat these as rare. Save for events. Never spend on stamina refills unless you have thousands to spare.
Stamina: Use it on campaign stages for hero experience and hero shards. Don’t hoard it — it regenerates and you waste the overflow.
Speed-ups: Time acceleration items are valuable. Use them strategically on important upgrades, not on routine buildings just to clear a queue.
Building Upgrade Order (First 30 Days)
Section titled “Building Upgrade Order (First 30 Days)”- Always upgrade what your next castle tier requires first
- Research Cottage — keeping this high directly unlocks faster research, which compounds
- Guild — required for castle tiers and provides guild event access
- Hospital — required for castle tiers; bigger hospital means more troops saved per battle
- Training Ground — required for castle tiers; unlocks higher-tier troop training
Everything else (farms, mines, lumber) can lag behind without major consequence in the first month.
