Spending Guide

Top Heroes is free to play and genuinely enjoyable without spending a cent. But if you’re thinking about putting money into the game — even just a few dollars — this guide helps you get maximum value and avoid the traps that drain money without meaningful return.

No pressure to spend. The game is designed to be played free. This guide exists for players who’ve decided they want to invest something and want to make it count.

Start Here: The Two Best Purchases in the Game

Section titled “Start Here: The Two Best Purchases in the Game”

Regardless of your budget, these two buys are so impactful they deserve their own section:

PurchasePriceWhy It Matters
2nd Construction Queue~$1.99Permanent. You can build two things simultaneously for the rest of the game. Buy this first, as early as possible.
2nd Research Queue~$8.99Permanent. Research is your most compounding long-term investment — doubling your throughput has exponential returns over months.

If you only ever spend on this game, spend on these two. Everything else is optional.

The Ad Skip purchase lets you claim ad-based rewards instantly without watching the ad. It also unlocks the 5th queue slot early on and provides Pyro shards. For $2, it’s exceptional value — completely passive and you benefit from it every single session.

Adventure Begins Packs ($1.99 → $4.99 → $9.99)

Section titled “Adventure Begins Packs ($1.99 → $4.99 → $9.99)”

These are daily-reward packs sold in escalating tiers. Part 1 is $2, Part 2 is $5, Part 3 is $10. Each runs for 7 days with daily resource rewards.

They’re excellent value, especially the first tier. The cumulative rewards across the 7-day window are consistently better than lump-sum purchases in the same price range. Stack multiple parts if you’re comfortable with the spend.

The Monthly Pass gives 30 days of daily rewards plus permanent privilege perks. What you get each day:

  • 80 diamonds
  • 100 stamina
  • 2 recruit tokens
  • 5-hour construction/research skip
  • 200 refined iron ingots

Over 30 days: approximately 1,600 diamonds, 3,000 stamina, 60 recruit tokens, 150 hours of skip time.

It also permanently unlocks the 3rd Construction Queue, Autohunt, 2x ad rewards, 200% map movement speed, and 100% gather speed bonus.

Best value on the first purchase (discounted rate). Less critical if you’re on a strict budget and not logging in daily.

When a new mythic hero releases, a starter shard pack for that hero is often available for $5. These are among the best ways to unlock new heroes without grinding summons. Only buy once your core team lineup is established — don’t buy shards for a hero you won’t use.

A one-time purchase with a high diamond return. Buy diamonds once and get a significantly boosted total back over time. Good for players who are committed long-term and want to stockpile diamonds for events and banners.

Worth it for consistent mid-to-heavy spenders. Includes hero shards, universal shards, and extra rewards. Pricey for low spenders but good long-term value if you’re committing to the game.

No purchases. You can absolutely progress to a strong account through:

  • Daily quest diamonds
  • Event participation
  • Gift code redemptions
  • Consistent login habits

The gap between F2P and spending players is speed, not access. F2P players can reach competitive rosters — it takes longer.

Best allocation:

  1. 2nd Construction Queue (one-time, ~$2)
  2. Ad Skip (~$2)
  3. 2nd Research Queue (one-time, ~$9)
  4. Adventure Begins Tier 1 (~$2)
  5. 7-Day Login Pack (~$1, when available)
  6. New hero shard packs ($5) for mythics you want
  7. Growth Fund ($20) — excellent one-time diamond investment

Everything in the low tier, plus:

  1. 3rd Construction Queue (one-time — unlocked via Monthly Pass)
  2. Monthly Pass ($5, first purchase)
  3. Adventure Begins — all three tiers ($17 total)
  4. Daily Specials (hero shards) at $5 each
  5. Growth Fund ($20)

Everything above, plus:

  • Adventurer’s Battle Pass ($20)
  • Wheel Pass / Dice Privilege ($20 each) — helps collect rare materials; dice and tickets roll over
  • Castle Skins — expensive, but provide meaningful passive stat and utility buffs in PvP

Instant Training Privilege — listed at ~$50, provides very low impact for cost. Not worth it even for committed spenders.

Troll’s Strike Pass and similar event passes — rewards are insufficient for the price. Check the math before buying any time-limited event pass.

Event-bound battle passes — passes that tie to a specific limited event rather than long-term account growth rarely provide lasting value.

Direct summons with diamonds — spending diamonds on generic summons is low efficiency. Save diamonds for targeted banners during events, or use them in shops for specific items.

  • Top up in the Top Heroes web store for extra bonus rewards — you get more for your money than buying through the app store. Every little bit counts.
  • Save diamonds for events. Event banners and event shops provide significantly better value than spending whenever you have a surplus.
  • Don’t chase sunk costs. If you’ve invested in a purchase that turned out to be weak, don’t throw more money at the same category to justify the first purchase.
  • Prioritize permanents. One-time purchases with permanent effects (queues, ad skip) always outperform recurring costs at the same price point.
