Castle and Buildings
Your castle is the backbone of progression in Top Heroes. Every major system — from troop training to relic crafting — is gated behind specific building levels. Understanding the upgrade order and prerequisite chain is the difference between efficient and stalled progression.
Core Buildings

| League Barracks | Trains League faction troops; added to prerequisites at higher castle levels |
| Horde Barracks | Trains Horde faction troops |

The Prerequisite Pattern
Section titled “The Prerequisite Pattern”Castle upgrades follow a strict alternating prerequisite pattern:
- Odd-numbered castle levels (21, 23, 25…): require Research Cottage + Hospital at the matching level
- Even-numbered castle levels (22, 24, 26…): require Guild + Training Ground at the matching level
You must upgrade all four core buildings in lockstep with your castle. Falling behind on any single building will block your next castle upgrade. From Castle 47 onward, faction Barracks join the prerequisite chain.

Resource Costs: Castle Levels 41–65 (Servers 108+)
Section titled “Resource Costs: Castle Levels 41–65 (Servers 108+)”Higher-level servers use a different resource structure from Level 41 onward. Resource columns are icon-based in-game; R1 is a rare material in small quantities, while R2 and R3 scale into the tens-to-hundreds of millions. Faction Barracks join the prerequisite chain at this range.

Brilliance Milestones
Section titled “Brilliance Milestones”Brilliance is a castle enhancement system that activates every 5 castle levels starting at Level 45. Two milestones grant direct hero power increases — these are the most impactful milestones in the game and should drive your planning targets.

The +5 Hero Level bonuses at Brilliance 2 and 4 compound across all combat systems. Make Castle 50 and Castle 60 your primary mid- and late-game targets.
Upgrade Priority
Section titled “Upgrade Priority”Free-to-Play
Section titled “Free-to-Play”Keep all four core buildings within one level of your next Castle upgrade requirement at all times. Letting any single building lag will freeze Castle progress and stall your entire account.
- Prioritise Hospital capacity early — wounded troops that exceed Hospital capacity are permanently lost
- Stockpile resources before unlocking each Castle level to avoid long wait times mid-upgrade chain
- Castle 50 (Brilliance 2) is the most important medium-term milestone to work toward
Spenders
Section titled “Spenders”With a permanent 2nd Construction Queue, you can upgrade two buildings in parallel and cut your upgrade timeline roughly in half. This single purchase is among the highest-value investments in the game for progression speed.
- 3rd Construction Queue (available via Monthly Pass) adds further parallel building capacity
- Use speed-ups strategically during Guild Arms Race Construction phases for double event value
