FAQ

The questions that come up most often in the Top Heroes community, answered clearly. If you’re just getting started or hitting a specific wall, check here first.

Yes, spending accelerates progression — but free-to-play is genuinely viable.

Top Heroes follows the standard mobile game model where spending buys speed, not exclusive access. Free-to-play players can reach competitive rosters, strong castle levels, and meaningful guild contributions. You just get there on a longer timeline.

The most impactful free advantage is time: logging in daily, completing quests, and participating in events consistently compounds into a strong account. Spenders who play casually often fall behind consistent free players.

That said, if you’re aiming to be the #1 power on your server in the first month, spending is required. If you want to enjoy the game, be useful in your guild, and progress steadily — free works fine.

Pick the one whose heroes appeal to you visually and thematically.

All three factions are balanced for endgame content. The real differences are:

  • Horde gets mythic heroes earliest (day 21+) — strong early momentum
  • League has Leader, considered the most impactful hero in high-difficulty content
  • Nature gets mythics later (Season 1, day 53+) but has a strong legendary phase

There’s no wrong answer. Don’t agonize over it.

Only if you enjoy it and can afford it comfortably.

If you want to spend, the highest-value purchases are:

  1. 2nd Construction Queue (~$2) — permanent, immediate impact
  2. 2nd Research Queue (~$9) — permanent, compounds over time
  3. Adventure Begins packs — great value per dollar for gradual daily investment
  4. Monthly Pass — solid if you’re logging in daily

Avoid spending on direct summons (bad value), Instant Training Privilege, and event battle passes that don’t tie to long-term growth. See the Spending Guide for the full breakdown.

Mythic heroes are unlocked progressively based on game days (consistent across servers):

DayFactionMythic
21HordeDesert Prince
27HordeStorm Maiden
35LeagueParagon
41HordeWitch
46LeaguePrincess Rose + Bishop
53+NatureMonk, Tidecaller, Altar Marshal

Season 2 brings Wanderer and Beastmaster (Horde). Season 3 adds Artificier (League), Petalis (Nature), and Shadow Priest (Horde).

Note: For servers 580+, some discrepancies are possible.

Open the Guild building in your castle and tap Join Guild. You can browse open guilds or search by name. Most active guilds list their requirements — power level, activity, timezone.

Tips:

  • Join as early as possible — every day in a guild generates value
  • An active mid-tier guild beats a top-ranked empty one
  • Look for a guild in your timezone so events sync with when you’re online
  • Once in, participate in guild boss fights and donate to guild tech research daily

This changes with each season as new mythics are released. See the Hero Tier List for the current ranking.

In general: mythic heroes are almost always better than legendary heroes for the same role. Your early legendary team (Wilderness Hunter, Astrologer, etc.) gets replaced by mythics starting around week 3–6.

Within each tier, community-recognized standouts include:

  • Horde: Storm Maiden, Desert Prince, Witch (pre-Season 2)
  • League: Paragon, Leader, Princess Rose
  • Nature: Monk, Tidecaller, Altar Marshal

There’s no faction switch mechanic — changing factions effectively means starting over. Your castle, research, and economy don’t change with faction, but your hero investment doesn’t transfer.

The short answer: commit to your faction choice. If you genuinely want to change, start a new account on a new server rather than abandoning progress on your current one.

What’s the best way to get diamonds for free?

Section titled “What’s the best way to get diamonds for free?”
  • Complete daily quests — most reliable source
  • Participate in events — events pay out substantial diamonds for achieving milestones
  • Achievement milestones — one-time but meaningful amounts
  • Guild events — cooperative events often include diamond rewards
  • Gift codes — check the gift codes page for active codes

Kingdom vs Kingdom is the primary PvP event in Top Heroes. Your server (kingdom) battles another server over a set period. Players fight for territory, resources, and server rankings. KvK rewards are significant and it’s where guild coordination matters most.

KvK is also where spending players show their advantage most clearly — but well-organized free guilds regularly punch above their power weight class.

These are mid-to-late game systems that unlock progressively:

  • Pets — companion units that provide passive buffs; leveled separately from heroes
  • Behemoths — powerful boss creatures that give server-wide buffs when your guild defeats them
  • Relics — equippable items that provide combat bonuses; upgraded with specific materials

Each of these systems gets deeper guides as they become relevant. Early game players can safely ignore them until castle level 30+.

Yes. Top Heroes is available on iOS and Android and players on both platforms share the same servers. Link your account to a Google Play or Apple ID account (or use the in-game account system) to ensure your progress persists across devices and reinstalls.

Join the newest server you can find. Fresh servers mean everyone starts equal, events are active, and the leaderboards aren’t dominated by established mega-spenders.

If you’re joining mid-season, check community resources for which servers have the most active player base in your timezone.
